Easy network config?

I found myself without internet in Debian Etch after an reboot and I found it very difficult to get the internet working again. I read your information about configuring network but this did't help me get my network back online. I wonder is there an easy way to configure you netweork settings in Debian (such as "net-setup"in Gentoo)?

use

prakash@etch:~$ sudo network-admin

to set ip address /gw etc.
for dsl broadband "pppoeconf" helps configure.
